A Few Thoughts About Bootleg Tattoo Artists
...from Lance Ferrell

To All tattoo fans, people considering a tattoo, etc.—

Many people get the thought in their heads “I'd like to be a tattoo artist.” They open up a tattoo magazine and go “Wow! For $399.99, I'm a tattoo artist!” These kits even come with a certificate that says you are now a tattoo artist. FUCK! This is so Fucking ridiculous!

Now don’t get me wrong. Every tattoo artist starts somewhere, with a real desire to move up in the world of tattoo. Along the way, knowledge is acquired about cross contamination, sterilization, procedure, artwork, surrounding, etc., which is damn good, and must happen before one can become a professional. Others just don’t give a fuck. Money Money Money. That's all they think. No desire to go about things the right way. No desire to learn proper procedure. Spreading disease and skin mutilation all over the world.

Milltown Ink is located in Massachusetts, where a lot of us have busted our asses to open up and run reputable shops. We are hardworking motherfuckers and don't want tattoos to be banned in Mass again because of some dipshits spreading disease at parties.

Take a minute to think about this. Would you get a kidney transplant at a party in a living room after ten other people did? Hell No! Would you go to an open heart surgery party? Again, Hell No! Granted, tattoos are beautiful artwork, but tattooing is also a Medical Practice, dealing with blood, skin, etc. There are two sides to the story.

The only way to stop these unlicensed disease-spreading hackers is to stop going to them! Research your artist. Massachusetts is very strict about handing out tattoo licenses. This is by all means a good thing. If you've gone through the steps, you have the knowledge.

Ask questions. Like “Do you have an auto clave?” “Do you throw away your needles after every customer?” “Have you been trained on blood borne pathogens?” “Can I see your license?” Any reputable, knowledgeable artist will be glad to oblidge.

So, people, for the safety of yourselves and others, and for Tattoos' sake, PLEASE take a little time to think this over. It's the truth. Thanks.
